Expense Tracker

Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the Expense Tracker Android application, published by KL GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED ("we", "us"). By installing or using Expense Tracker you agree to them.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Expense Tracker on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. The app is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

What Expense Tracker is, and is not

Expense Tracker is a personal finance record-keeping tool. It holds the expenses, income, budgets, accounts and goals you enter or confirm, and summarises them on your own device.

It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not a bank. Nothing it shows is a recommendation about what to do with your money. Budgets, month-end forecasts, net worth and insights are estimates calculated from your own entries, nothing more. If you need advice, speak to a qualified professional.

Expense Tracker does not connect to your bank. It reads only the SMS alerts your bank already sends to your phone, and only if you allow it. There is no account, no sign-in and no server.

Expense Tracker cannot move money. It makes no payments and no transfers, and it offers no loans and no credit. Recording a transaction, a transfer between your own accounts, or a settled debt changes only the record kept on your phone — never anything at your bank.

If you allow SMS access, the app reads message text on your phone to find bank, card, UPI and wallet transaction alerts. It adds nothing to your records by itself: every detected transaction waits in a review queue until you add or discard it. It never sends, deletes or changes your messages, it does not read MMS, and it is not your default SMS app. You can choose "Not now" and type everything by hand instead, or withdraw SMS access later in Android Settings.

Accuracy

Detection and categorisation are approximate. The app decides whether a message reports a completed transaction by reading its wording, so results depend on how each bank, card issuer, UPI app or wallet words its alerts. An unusually worded message can be missed, and a suggested category can be wrong — which is why nothing is added until you review it. Promotions, one-time passwords, failed or declined payments and debits that are only scheduled are ignored, but that judgement is made from the text alone.

Totals are only ever as good as the entries behind them. Your bank's own statement is the authoritative record of your account: check your entries against it, correct anything that does not match, and do not rely on the app where precision matters. The month-end forecast in particular is a projection from how you have spent so far, not a prediction of what will happen.

Your responsibilities

Your data

Expense Tracker stores its data only in app-private storage on your phone and transmits nothing; the app holds no internet permission. We never receive your records, which also means we cannot view, correct, restore or delete them for you.

You are responsible for your own backups. Android's Google Drive backup is turned off for this app, so clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it permanently deletes everything — your entries, your settings and your App lock PIN. Export a backup first if you want to keep anything. If you forget the password on a password-protected backup, nobody can recover that file, including us; the same is true of a forgotten App lock PIN. See the Privacy Policy and Your data.

Availability and changes

We may update, change or discontinue Expense Tracker or any of its features. We will not release a version that begins sending your data off your phone without updating the Privacy Policy first and saying so, and we will ask for your permission in the app where the law requires it.

If we change these terms, we will publish the new version on this page and change the date above.

Disclaimer and liability

Expense Tracker is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; for financial decisions you take on the basis of the records, forecasts or insights the app shows; or for loss of data arising from clearing the app's storage, uninstalling the app, resetting your device, revoking its permissions, or a forgotten PIN or backup password.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction.
